Sergei Viktorovich Fyodorov, popularly recognized as Sergei Fedorov, is a former professional ice hockey player. He was born on December 13, 1969, in Pskov City, found in the western part of Russia.
The Russian athlete is the head coach of the Kontinental Hockey League’s CSKA Moscow. Before his retirement as a hockey player in 2009, he was known for his position as a center, winger, and defenceman for 13 long seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.
Since he was a native of the Soviet Union, Sergei Fedorov had to sacrifice and defect from his country to pursue his passion of joining the National Hockey League (NHL). During his playing career from the 1990s to the 2000s, he is considered one of the world’s best players. He is a three-time Olympian with over 1,200 NHL games and 483 scored goals.
