Virginia Fields Madden and John Madden’s marriage
In addition to being a football coach, John was well-known for the devotion that he had shown to his one and only wife, Virginia Fields, before his unfortunate death. According to the former football coach himself, he had his first encounter with Virginia when he used to be a student at the University of Virginia.
On the other hand, she asserts that the two of them first crossed paths one day in a bar in Pismo Beach. They might not have talked to one another if the couple had not been there on that fateful day.
It did not appear relevant that they each had a unique recollection of the first time they met each other; instead, it appeared that it did not matter. To be more precise, the two became romantically involved and dated for a period of time, approximately up until their wedding day.
Virginia Fields became John Madden’s wife on the 26th day of December 1959, and their wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Santa Maria, California. The New York Times reports that Virginia wore a breathtaking gown to their ceremony during that time.
Over the Deep Lustre ivory satin, it had a Sabrina neckline trimmed in pearls, and the lace was imported from Chantilly in France. Additionally, during John’s wedding, John’s longtime friend and former coach at both the NFL and USC, John Robinson, served as John’s best man.
In addition, people from Guadalupe named Dick Nolan, Kermit McKenzie, and Clarence Minetti were present. The married couple were together for sixty-two long years and lived in Pleasanton, California, with their two kids before he sadly succumbed to his death two days after their 62nd wedding anniversary.
