An English-Irish actor known for appearing in numerous television series and plays in his career, Brendan Coyle is primarily recognized for starring in the British historical drama TV series Downtown Abbey as John Gates.

In addition to his role as John Gates, he is also famous for playing Nicholas Higgins’s character in the miniseries North & South, Brendan in the play The Weir, and Robbert Timmins for the first three series of Lark Rise to Candleford.

With the outstanding performances throughout his profession, Brendan has been nominated for several rewards, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

He then won one, which is the Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role for The Weir.

The 59-year-old actor has always preferred privacy in his life but has been open to the public about his love life.

Brendan has confirmed that he is not yet tied in wedlock and is still single and presently not dating anyone despite having previous relationships.

Though in some of the interviews taken with him, he has stated that the right person, place, and time just has not happened yet though he has shared hints of him being ready for a relationship, currently in search of the perfect partner, and wanting to get married as he is getting older day by day.

Even if Brendan has not publicly dated anybody, there are rumors of him being together with fellow actress Joy Harrison. He was romantically linked with Harrison due to glimpses of them in public.

They were spotted at Madison Square Garden in New York during a game of the NBA team New York Knicks where they were reportedly looked comfortable with each other.

In addition, Harrison even had spent her birthday with Brendan at his house in Norfolk in April 2010. Regrettably, they claimed they were just best friends, which took the rumors away.

Brendan Coyle, born David Coyle, was born on the 2nd day of December 1962 in the town of Corby in North Northamptonshire, England, to Irish and Scottish descent parents, respectively Patrick and Delia Coyle.

He is currently 59 years old. Moreover, he is also a great-nephew of the former football player and manager, Sir Matt Busby, Manchester United Football Club.

Having been exposed to the family trade of butchery at a young age, Brendan eventually worked in a meat factory.

It is until he found his passion for acting that he trained at a drama club in Dublin in 1981 named the Focus Theatre, which was co-founded by his aunt Mary Elizabeth Burke-Kennedy.

Afterward, he received a scholarship in 1983 from Mountview Theatre School in England, directing two plays since his graduation from the institution.
