Big brother to late artist Aaliyah Rashad Houghton was born on August 6, 1977, in Brooklyn, almost two years after his sister’s birth. He finished his studies at Hofstra University and worked on Aaliyah’s music video 4 Page Letter right after graduating.
The weight of his sister’s loss on the 25th of August, 2001, was already a heavy burden; unfortunately, life isn’t fair following his father’s death in November 2021. He lost his father—Michael Houghton, to kidney disease. His body is buried next to his daughter Aaliyah at Hartsdale, Westchester County.
Even after the tragic loss of Aaliyah, her music and legacy are very much alive until this day. Her family looked over her estate and music on her behalf and released her music on streaming platforms two decades after her demise.
