American interdisciplinary artist Derek DelGaudio is a visual artist and a three-time Academy of Magical Arts Award-winning magician most recognized for his work as a writer and performer.
He was born between 1984 and 1985 in the US state of California’s Huntington Beach. DelGaudio’s personal life is largely unknown, but some details of his past are made public through his show, In & Of Itself, such as the fact that he was bullied for his mother’s orientation as a child after learning she was lesbian at the age of six and how he worked for many years as a card sharp after learning to deceive people in the game of cards at an early age.
He was the creator of the Frank Oz-directed theater production, In & Of Itself, which ran for 72 weeks from the beginning of 2017 until August 2018 at Daryl Roth Theatre in New York, and it was released in a film version on January 22, 2021.
Together with Glenn Kaino, he cofounded the performance-art company A.BANDIT, which has staged performances at LAX Art, Art Basel Miami, Art Los Angeles Contemporary, and other locations. In addition, they also co-authored a book under the name A.BANDIT, “A Secret Has Two Faces.” It features contributions by Marina Abramovi, Ricky Jay, David Blaine, and John Baldessari and includes interviews with them as well as tales from their careers in performance art and magic.
DelGaudio was chosen to serve as the Walt Disney Imagineering’s Artist in Residence in 2014. He co-wrote and starred in the popular television program “Nothing to Hide.”
In March 2021, AMORALMAN: A True Story and Other Lies, a nonfiction book by DelGaudio, was published. Here, he tells a profoundly thought-provoking and utterly uniquely captivating story as one of the most gifted magicians to appear in this era.
In the August of the same year, Unacceptable, a one-man show by Neal Brennan, made its debut at the Cherry Lane Theater in New York City under the direction of DelGaudio.
Just this year, on February 10, 2022, DelGaudio made his feature film acting debut in Steven Soderbergh’s thriller, “Kimi,” as Bradley Hasling. It was released on HBO Max, and the film generally received positive reviews from critics.

Vanessa Lauren was born in 1987. She’s a producer of a wide variety of arts and entertainment ventures. She’s also one of the producers and part of the team of the highly-acclaimed Off-Broadway show, In & Of Itself, together with her husband. Her recent works were Low in the Water (2019), MST3K (2017), Super Troopers 2 (2018), and Zappa (2020).
Vanessa also made her acting debut as Rachel in the 1998’s stage show “Barney’s Big Surprise.” It was the first nationwide stage production tour based on the live-action educational children’s television program, Barney & Friends, produced in the United States.
